Player Characters (PC's)
Player Characters or PC's are characters that can be a member of the player's party or played by the player directly.
In Dragon Warrior, there is only one playable character. Sequels added a party system.
Non-Player Characters (NPC's)
Non-player characters are characters you usually meet in town (or sometimes lost in the wilderness) and have a chat with.

Experience Point
An experience point levelling system advances a character when the experience points have accumulated enough to merit the next level. Examples: Dragon Warrior.

Monsters
Monsters are used in random encounters. The most common RPG monster is the slime.
Slimes
A slime is a creature made of slime. Slimes have been a mainstay in RPGs as low level monsters.
Variations of Slimes
The standard slime is a green slimy thing. To make the normal variety of slime less boring game designers have varied from the traditional model, including :
- Elemental Slimes - Final Fantasy X
- Red Slime - Dragon Warrior
- Metal Slime - Dragon Warrior
Dungeon
Dungeon is a generic term for a semi-independent module which is accessed from the World Map.
