Square pixels make up a face.

A pixel (short for picture element) is the smallest unit of a digital picture. Practically, you can think of pixels as the rectangles that make up game graphics or the screen you are looking at now.

For the most part, pixels are generally square. however, in some computers, especially early home computers during the 1980's, pixels were often rectangular with the width longer than the height.
