Maze Game Genre

A maze game is a game where the player object must navigate a maze. This is a loose category and no clearly defining attributes of the maze game genre has been established except the criteria just given.

A demonstration of the looseness of the maze game genre can be shown by listing a few of those games that are generally considered to be maze games :

• Pac-Man - a game where a yellow, hungry, dot eater runs around a tight maze in "channels" while being pursued by enemy ghosts.

• Alien - a game no doubt inspired by Pac-Man. It has the addition of giving the player object a flame thrower.

• Berzerk - a game where evil robots attempt to kill the human "intruder". The maze is loose and is divided into several rooms (screens).
