List of endangered game programming languages

This is a list of endangered game programming languages and why they are endangered. Nobody wants to start game development and design in a game programming language that may not be supported tomorrow. We hope that this list is useful in this context.

CoolBasic

CoolBasic, sadly, has not been updated for over a year now. The lead programmer, Zero, has been MIA since the official forum was hacked in August of 2006. Despite much talk of extending CoolBasic into two new game programming languages, CoolBasic Advanced and CoolBasic3D, dating back to 2004, no betas ever emerged. There seems to be no way to track him down. Sadly, this great game programming language looks endangered.

In PCopy! #20, there is an interview with the developer of CoolBasic. He claims that a new, possibly 3D version developed in C++ is on the way, but there is no sign of this on the CoolBasic website.
Interview with Jukka Lavonen here.

There has been a report that the CoolBasic community has appealed that the source code be released to the public because of the developers inactivity.

The developer of CoolBasic, Zero, promises that "a new generation" is under development in his forum. See this CB forum post.

EthosBasic

The current version of EthosBasic is two years old. It does not run properly on the current writer's computer (Win 2k Pro with NVidia) and the forums are dead.
