What is Game Design Novice?

Game Design Novice is a community of and a wiki created by game designers, game programmers, game artists, game testers, and even complete noobs.

Purpose of Game Design Novice

The purpose of Game Design Novice is to research game design and game programming and present the results of our research in an easy to understand format so that anyone can learn to make their own video games. Our secondary purpose is to research how people learn to make video games, especially by helping complete novices, also known as "noobs."

The first thing you should do is Join our community. You can ask questions on our Forum. All new members are warmly welcomed.

Choose Your Destiny

Everyone at Game Design Novice is involved in research, including complete noobs. The sections below will help you decide on an area of research to participate in. Many of our members participate in several areas of research, you are welcome to as well.

Complete Noob

We are always in need of good lab rats complete noobs with little or no game design or game programming experience. Game Design Novice exists to help you, the complete noob, to learn to make games as quickly and as painlessly as possible.

You can help us help you by being involved in our Noob Research.

Game Designer

The Game Designers of Game Design Novice research game design by playing games, creating game guides and faqs, isolating and standardizing game design concepts, and collaborating with our Game Programmers and Game Artists to create game archetypes as well as new, unique and original games.
