Brutus2D is a free 2D game programming language under vigorous development.

It supports both VBScript and JScript syntax, making it somewhat of an oddball. It features a full set of BASIC language commands with additional commands to simplify the creation of two dimensional games. There are easy-to-use commands for scrollable tile maps, path finding, collision, sound, music and hardware accelerated graphics. Brutus2D is ideal for shoot-em up, side scroller, platform, puzzle and other types of games.

Brutus2D is written in Visual Basic and uses Microsoft's scripting languages.
